Kyeann Sayer explores eco-fashion for back to schoolers on MSN. From the article: According to Ecofashion 101 founder Summer Rayne Oakes, “Organic fabrics don’t use petroleum-based fertilizers or pesticides. In the case of cotton the fabric has to be hand-picked as opposed to machine-picked, so there is significant reduction of carbon throughout the raw material process.”
Oakes, a model and eco-fashion consultant, pioneered the Ecofashion 101 curriculum, which uses students’ natural affinity for clothes and awareness of popular culture to get at the environmental and social issues related to fashion. Continue reading here.
