Kyeann Sayer explores eco-fashion for back to schoolers on MSN. From the article: According to Ecofashion 101 founder Summer Rayne Oakes, “Organic fabrics don’t use petroleum-based fertilizers or pesticides. In the case of cotton the fabric has to be hand-picked as opposed to machine-picked, so there is significant reduction of carbon throughout the raw material process.” Oakes, a model and eco-fashion consultant, pioneered the Ecofashion 101 curriculum, which uses students’ natural affinity for clothes and awareness of popular culture to get at the environmental and social issues related to fashion.
