Since its founding by Yale graduates Benita Singh and Ruth DeGolia in May 2004, Mercado Global has become an exemplar model demonstrating how fashionable fair trade can be. For its second year on the market, Mercado has chosen model and fellow social entrepreneur, Summer Rayne Oakes to be the face for the brand. Oakes' work in sustainable fashion, fair trade, and education made her a fitting candidate to represent what Mercado stands for.
